Letter from the Founder

Happy New Year, and thank you for using Plotwise.

I wanted to share a brief update on why Plotwise exists and an upcoming change to the platform.

Plotwise started as a way to solve a problem I had personally faced: researching property in Kenya without enough information early on, and realizing gaps only when it was already too late. Much of the critical context is fragmented, hard to access, or only becomes visible after you’ve committed significant time or money.

As more people use Plotwise, the biggest challenge we continue to face is limited data. Expanding coverage, improving accuracy, and keeping information current, especially cadastral and planning data, requires sustained effort and access that isn’t free. Without a way to support this work, the platform will simply stagnate and stop improving.

Because of this, we’ll begin charging for some advanced features. The core of Plotwise will remain free and you’ll still be able to explore parcels on our map and access useful context at no cost.

As we expand our coverage, we’re looking to collaborate with professionals in land, surveying, and real estate. If you, or someone you know, has to digitized cadastral records and is open to a commercial collaboration, we’d like to hear from you at hello@plotwise.co.
